Produce on the Patio to be held weekly at the UCF Student Union
Eating healthy on campus will be a little easier for students due to Produce on the Patio. With all of the fast food restaurants on campus, the Union wanted to give students healthier options. This is an initative of Healthy Knights 2020, a campaign to encourage students to make healthier lifestyle choices.
Assistant Director of the Student Union, Lili Metcalf, stated she heard from many individual students and student organizations like Eco and SGA how nice it would be to have fresh options on campus. This inspired her idea for Produce on the Patio. Every Thursday, local farmers will sell their produce in front of the Student Union. Students and faculty can easily come between classes to pick up fresh fruits and vegetables without ever having to step foot off campus.
Produce on the Patio was scheduled to take off on January 10th, but it was postponed until January 17th due to an insurance issue. It will take place every Thursday from 10am-2pm in front of the Student Union.
